Bench Training 7/13 – 7/26 (2014)

Bench Training 7/13 – 7/26 (2014)

Jul 30, 2014

Its been a while.  I’ve been extremely busy the last few weeks.  Baby on the way, working hard, training hard, and feeling very blessed.

I don’t really have any profound ponderings to offer, but I will say that it feels good to be able to train somewhat heavy raw again.  The shoulder seems to be holding up very well and feels almost as good as new.  The mobility is still somewhat limited, but the pain is non existent.  If anything, the shoulder feels a little bit tighter.  Is that good/bad?  I don’t know.  Am I back to my strongest?  …not even close, but I think I am on the right track.  Check out these last couple of weeks…

Tuesday 7/15
2 Board Press 345 x14 @10 (RAW), Felt like I hit the wall on this set…not happy about it.  But I felt off that day.  The shoulder is handling it well.  Just taking these a week at a time.

Saturday 7/19
Relaxed with Beth this day!

Sunday 7/20
Equipped Bench Press 615 x3, x2, 585 x3, x1 (no belt) Decided to try a Titan Katana Size 52, but it didn’t feel right, so I threw the 54 back on…Felt way better.  Being out of a shirt and out of the game in general has forced me to make some interesting decisions with my gear.
Shoulder Complex

Monday 7/21
Cardio x30 Min
Deadlift 295 x10

Tuesday 7/22
2 Board Press 365 x10 @7-8 (RAW), Much Easier than the week before.  I think I was just a little beat up last week.  Better sleep helped here.
Bent DB Rows 100s x3x20
Curls 60/60/55/55/45 x15, decided to go a little heavier on these.  I’ve been sand bagging.  For a guy that doesn’t really train biceps all that hard…I got some strong ones, but I’ve always had really strong arms and hands without really trying a whole lot.

DB Bench Press 120s x5x11 – short rest…I am really appreciating the DB presses more.  I will be making these a regular staple in my training for years to come.
DB Chest Flyes 60s x3x10
DB Curls 60s x15
Pullaparts

Wednesday 7/23
Cardio x30 Min
Deadlift 295 x10

Thursday 7/24
Bench Press (RAW) worked up to 315 x10 @7-8.  This is a huge victory for me.  Pre surgery I wouldn’t have been able to do 2 reps without severe pain.  I could have done several more reps, but decided it best to take it slow and steady and leave a little in the tank.
Bent DB Rows 100s x3x20
Curls 60/60/55/55/45 x15

DB Military Press (sitting on flat bench) 40s x10 / 80s x5x10, That last rep of the last set is a real SOB.
Neutral Grip Bench Press 265 x3x10 chalk helps a lot with these.
DB Chest Flyes 60s x4x10+
DB Curls 60s x15
Shoulder Complex
Pullaparts

Friday 7/25
Cardio x30 Min
Deadlift 295 x10

Saturday 7/26
Been looking at some baby stuff.  Was looking at some acreage for sale in the Carterville, IL township that we may build later on.  Overall, a great day!
